Friday Photo Fix

Last weekend my friend Lauren casually told me while riding up a ski lift that I should do a Friday photo dump on the blog.

Huh...what a brilliant idea Lauren. I'm sure you are not shocked to know that I constantly take photos of Chance on my phone but I hardly ever share them.

That's all about to change! Welcome to the first ever "Friday Photo Fix"!

I hope you enjoy!

1st Haircut

Chance has CRAZY hair! Of all of the things to inherit from me, poor guy gets my hair.  My hair has been my arch nemesis for as long as I can remember.   My hair does not like to stay fixed, it can not decide if it is curly or straight, and if it meets humidity... forget about it! I have had close friends claim to not know me in beach towns because my hair gets that crazy.
Nevertheless, Chance has my hair.  He is 12 months old and said close friends were asking, "When are you going to give Chance a hair cut?"
I got off of work a little ahead of schedule one evening and decided to call my friend Danielle who has been doing my hair for years to see if her barbershop does little kids cuts.  This could have been a dumb idea, but I felt comfortable with Danielle and I didn't want to pay $50 at Cherry Creek for Chance to be able to sit in a race car while he got the exact same hair cut that Danielle would do for $15.
One quick phone call later, a squealing and very excited Danielle said to be at the shop in 30 minutes.  She would be honored to give Chance his first cut.

Off to the barbershop we went.

That's right, I took Chance to the downtown Floyd's.  You know you're jealous.  This place is so...not a kid's place.  The minute I walked in, I immediately asked myself "what was I thinking."  I've never seen this place, like this before.

I should have just paid the $50 like a normal parent, but I was too far in already and decided I needed to give Danielle a try.

Chance was content to just sit on my lap and look at all of the hipsters while we waited.  For a moment, I even thought, this is going to work after all.

Chance definitely needs a haircut.  There is no containing this hair any longer.
When we were called back to Danielle's chair, Chance was so content and curiously looking around, but as soon as Danielle took him out of my arms and tried to set him in the booster all H&%# broke lose.
Chance wanted nothing of this barbershop or a haircut.

I decided to hold him in the chair to calm him down.
It did NOT work!
Can you see our reflection in the mirror?  Chance is not a happy camper.

The rest of the pictures are blurry because I had to hold a squirming Chance and take photos with one arm.
Chance is still not sure about Danielle and he definitely does not like it when she comes at him with a comb and a water bottle.

Haircuts are t.r.a.u.m.a.t.i.z.i.n.g

 Very t.r.a.u.m.a.t.i.z.i.n.g
(Is this the same look as gondola face?)

Chance even tried to dig his head into me for protection.  So sweet.

All in all, it was a rough trip to Floyd's.  Danielle was super understanding and completed mission impossible in giving Chance and the crazy hair just the cut he needed.

Maybe next time I will try the race car route.  You live and you learn.

Catching up on 2012

Whoa! Is it really January 18th, 2012? I would apologize for not blogging much since the new year, but "apologizing for things that are not my fault and/or too much" is on my list of resolutions for 2012.

Instead, I will just tell ya that January has been b.a.n.a.n.a.s!!!! I feel like I don't know whether I'm coming or going, asleep or awake, and time is moving way too fast!

Here are some highlights of the past few weeks to help catch you up to speed.

1. Max and I celebrated 8 years of marriage on January 3rd. We had an amazing evening together. I made us a candlelight dinner and Max bought me a ring with Chance's birthstone (blue topaz) which is beautiful!
2. We spent time as a family celebrating Beaver Creek's winter fest.
3. We spent time with friends trying to cheer on K-State to a victory in the cotton bowl...tear.

4. Chance will not take ANY food from a utensil and wants to exclusively feed himself...double tear!

5. Nick moved to Denver and brought Tebow and the Broncos good luck against the Steelers.

6. I met Lauren and Megan out for happy hour and some girl talk.

7. Chance and I made the trip down to Castle Rock to shop the outlet malls and keep Max company at work.

8. Max introduced Chance to the race car carts at Lowe's.

9. MLK day skiing at Breckenridge.

10. Chance is WALKING!
Stay tuned for a video. I promise to post one just as soon as I can figure out how to blog videos. Bare with me, a second resolution of mine is to improve my blogging skills ;)

So there you have it. You're all caught up on the Lehman's in 2012! I have a funny feeling that this year is going to be Legend...ary (which I've actually just learned is greater than Tebowing and Epic)!

Welcome 2012! I have high hopes and big plans for us this year.

Adrian learns to SKI

On New Year's weekend, Brad, Ashley, and Adrian made the drive out to Colorado to spend the weekend with us in the mountains.  We are always really excited when Brad and Ashley come to visit, but this past time was extremely special because it was the first time that Adrian was going to try to ski.
I so wish that I could have documented the whole thing for everyone! Adrian had a team of personal ski instructors (Brad, Max, and Cook) circling around him the entire time.  The goal was to get Adrian out on the kids magic carpet before taking him up any lifts so that he wouldn't be scared and so that he could learn to balance.
Here he is on top of the magic carpet.

Learning how to position his skis.

And he's off!

Max would point him in the right direction at the top and then Cook and Brad would be waiting at the bottom to catch him because Adrian didn't yet know how to turn or stop!
I'll have to admit...I was biting my nails at the first run, but Adrian did great and the boys were so careful and gentle with him!

Adrian said he was having "SO MUCH FUN"

Ready for his personal push up the hill again.

Giving me the thumbs up to let me know that he was still feeling okay and ready for more.

A push up from Daddy!

Adrian with his dad and uncle Max...
I'm sure they are teaching him all of the proper techniques

Looking good little buddy!

Adrian and his mommy! Ashley was so proud of him.

Brad, Ashley, and Adrian
The cutest little family ever!

Poor Chance had a cold and did not feel well the entire weekend! To be totally honest I took all of these photos in about twenty minutes and then went back to the condo with Chance because he looked so miserable.

I had no idea that he looked so pitiful until I went through these photos :(
I feel so guilty for taking him to the mountain now.

I'm glad that I didn't miss Adrian's first gondola experience though! After a few runs on the magic carpet, Max and Brad decided that Adrian was ready for the kids bunny hill.  So we all hopped on the gondola together for Adrian's favorite part of  the day "riding in the glass box"

Once at the top, Max went over some quick pointers again to teach Adrian how to slow himself down and stop. Very important to know!

Another quick lesson about how to turn.

and away they went!

Proud mom and dad!
Adrian did such a good job and was absolutely fearless in true Lehman style.
I hope they come back and visit us again very soon!
