Every four years...

Thank God that the summer Olympics only come around every four years.  I love cheering for the underdog and crying my eyes out for every athlete that sacrifices everything for their sport. I was absolutely exhausted today at work because I just had to stay up and watch every second of women's gymnastics.
We spent this past weekend watching the Olympics like it was our job and we do our jobs well, very well indeed.

Our weekend went a little something like this.

Throw rocks at REI

watch the Olympics

play with Chance

watch the Olympics

sip some bubbly

watch the Olympics

cuddle with our puppy

watch the Olympics

learn on the ipad

watch the Olympics

play in the water

watch the Olympics
spend time with loved ones

watch the Olympics
play in the dirt pile

Did I mention that we spent a lot of time watching the Olympics?  Hope your weekend was as relaxing as ours.

Golf Carts, a concert, and an alpine slide

I really don't even know where to begin to tell you about the Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney concert.  We all had so.much.fun!

We dropped the kids off at Ms. Barb's around 3 in the afternoon and then decided that it was best to tailgate indoors at Cook's apartment because of the heat.  It turned out to be the best decision ever.  We all had a blast, chatted up a storm, and snuck in a group photo before the concert began.

I had no idea how we were all going to get to the concert because traffic downtown was insane and no one wants to walk forever when it's in the triple digits.
I should have known that Cook would have been four steps ahead with a brilliant plan.
Enter "Colorado Cruisers" a golf cart company downtown that takes you to events.  WAY more fun than a cab!

Here is the view from the cheap seats.

Bad seats but great company!

Max and I couldn't get a picture together with both of our eyes open.  Brad and Ashley crush us on enthusiasm and being more fun.

Tim and Kenny had a long play list and we all sang and danced the night away. Literally...too much fun!

We had also promised Adrian that if he was good at Ms. Barb's that he would get to go down the "super duper huge mountain slide".  All of the kids did great at the babysitter and made us deliver on our promise.
Adrian was so patient and good with Chance all weekend.  They loved riding on the little rides in the lobby of the ticket office for the alpine slide.

Clearly the ponies were a much better ride than the train.

Chance's first open ski lift.

The view from the top.

Grabbing our sleds and getting ready to go for it.

I think we will be visiting this slide more times than we will be willing to admit.  Chance has no choice, Max and I loved it :)

What a great weekend! Thanks so much to Brad and Ashley for making it amazing.  We miss Kennedy and Adrian already.

Friday Photo Fix 7/27

Can I just tell you how much I love my new schedule! It's only the beginning of the weekend and my fridge is full, my laundry is folded and put away, and my wood floor is sparkling. I don't know why I feel like all of these things need to be done before I can really relax, but the point that I am trying to make here is that it is all done and I am relaxed!

Oh, and the best part is that I still got to spend all morning hiking with two of my favorite people. Life is good. Happy Friday everyone.

Now I just have to wait two more hours for the Olympics to officially start. Yay!

Cousins, the park, and red rocks

This past weekend we got to spend some much needed time with our little nephew and niece.  Brad, Ashley, Adrian and Kennedy were nice enough to brave the car ride from Topeka to Denver with a four year old and a one year old so that we could spend some time together.  I know that car rides with little ones can be tough so I'm so grateful to them for making the trip!

Brad and Ashley arrived around lunch time on Friday.  We spent some time at the house catching up and watching the cousins play.  I can not believe how quickly Kennedy is growing.  She is adorable and loves to explore every nook and cranny just like my man Chance.

Chance was SO excited to see Adrian.  He just kept hugging him, it was really sweet.

After a while, we decided to take the kids to the park so that they could run and play after being in the car all morning.  It was VERY HOT out, but we made the best of it.
We took our time walking to the playground and stopped to feed the ducks our crackers.

After we made sure that every baby duck had a bite to eat, it was time for the playground

and the swings

more swings

and finally some soccer.

After soccer in the park we all decided that we needed a tall glass of ice water ASAP! We stopped at our neighborhood bar and grill, Hanson's, on the way home for some BLT sandwiches and to cool off.
Our late lunch left us full and sleepy.  We all decided to just stay in at home, watch movies, and play with the kids.  We played with every toy in the house, cuddled on the couch, and gave our babies a bubble bath.

Saturday morning, we were all early to rise.  I had to knock out 12 miles with Lauren for our marathon training, but as soon as I was back it was time to hit the trail at Red Rocks for a family hike.

This was Kennedy's first time in the pack.  She did a great job and was very content and happy to be out.

I think Adrian had fun hiking too.

We also stopped at the top of Red Rocks Amphitheater to take in the view.  There was some kind of fitness expo going on.  It was beyond bizarre to see 800+ people doing squats all together.  Have you ever just been a bystander with crazy fitness people in bikinis all around? We have... at least it was good for some laughs.

Blogger cut me off from posting any more pictures to this post.  I will post the second half of our weekend adventures tonight after work.
