Winter Weekend

Last weekend we decided to embrace the cold weather and head out for some family time.  Our frist stop was the Denver Zoo for Zoo Lights.
We met up with Drew, Tina, and Callie for a double date with our babies.

Chance is officially obsessed with the carousel.  We can't walk by one of these anymore with out giving little man a ride...

It was a lot of fun to stroll the streets of the zoo.  The lights were really amazing and it definitely made us all more excited for the holidays!

We got a ton of Christmas shopping done on Saturday, the malls were not actually that bad, and we adopted a family through Holidays of Hope.  Very Fun!

Max had been itching to go skiing so I promised him that Chance and I would make a day trip up to the mountains on Sunday if he helped me shop on Saturday.  We decided to try on all of Chance's ski gear on Saturday night for a test run to see how he would take it.

Turns out Chance was born to be bundled up for the snow.  He didn't mind wearing the extra clothes at all and even walked over to my purse to grab his sunglasses to complete his look!

I was worried that Chance wouldn't like the bulky snow boots but I guess he thought the boots were the perfect accessory to wear while riding his train around the house all night.

I really didn't think that I would have to follow through with going to the mountains, but both of my ifs fell through.
1. Max helped me shop and
2. Chance did not throw a fit about his ski clothes...
Oh well, a promise is a promise. We were off to Keystone as a family...

Max got his ski fix in and Chance and I played on the playground in the snow.

All in all it was a great weekend with my two loves!

Cupcakes

I can't tell you how much I love being with little man right now!
This is a picture of him watching Mickey while I finish my make up for work. I made him wear the monster hat yesterday because I thought that he looked too big....
I'm crazy! I know and I can't help it!

Anyway...Max had told me earlier in the week that he needed me to bake something for his informal office brunch today.  I think he signed up a little late because when I made all of the normal brunch suggestions (breakfast casseroles, cinnamon rolls, ham, mimosas, french toast) he said that someone had alrealdy signed up for all of those things.

I was stumped on what to make until Chance and I stumbled upon this little hot chocolate cupcake mix at the grocery store.

After all of my original thoughts like...I'm terrible at baking.  I think I'm too much of a perfectionist or control freak or something to be able to bake.  Why is baking sooo much harder than cooking?  I realized for the second time in a day that I was being crazy and grabbed the box of cupcakes.

Apparently Chance isn't intimidated by baking at all.  In fact he LOVED helping me put all of the cupcake wrappers in place.  Who knew that cupcake wrappers could be so entertaining.

It turns out that with Chance's help...we can handle baking cupcakes just fine.

You even get to reward yourself with some chocolate at the end :)

Even Max was impressed with our finished product.

Unfortunately, Chance decided to help himself to one this morning before Max was able to make it to the office with the batch.  I think someone might share his father's sweet tooth.

Lights and Limos

This weekend has been the perfect mix of cuddling and craziness!
Last night was our 2nd Annual Lights and Limos Christmas Party with our Denver Village.
We worked on the garage all morning and played with Chance until it was time to get ready for dinner.  Chance spent the evening with Ms. Barb so that Max could have a night out with our friends.
We are so lucky to have someone that we trust to take care of our little man while we are out.

Dinner was at Lola's, an amazing coastal mexican seafood restaurant in the Highlands.  At first I wrinkeled my nose at the description of lobster quesadillas and lamb meat balls, but I was hooked at first taste! Every part of dinner was delicious from the appetizers to the dessert.

We had a great dinner out and enjoyed swapping fun stories with our friends.

After dinner, it was time for our limo ride to take us around town to look at Christmas lights.

We even got our first snow as we walked out of the restaurant and loaded into the limo.

We popped a few bottles of champagne...

and headed out to see the lights!

The capitol building was by far the best stop.

the girls I couldn't live without

and our frist snow!!!!

The entire evening was an absolute blast complete with dancing and lots and lots of singing.

This morning there was still snow on the ground and the air was COLD!

We quickly decided to have a nothing Sunday and declared that all family members would remain in their pajamas for breakfast and movies.

Betcha didn't know that sometimes Max cooks Chance and I breakfast while dancing :)

We made our living room floor into a giant family bed and so far we've watched Megamind and Elf.

Chance and I did manage to leave the living room just long enough to make some spinach dip for snacking, but we will likely stay in our pajamas for another nap and more cuddling.

I know all weekends can't be as perfect and relaxing as this one, but I'm definitely putting this one in the record books as one of my favorites.
