We tackled our first long road trip a few weeks ago and decided to make the drive from Denver to Kansas for Father's Day weekend.
The kids were absolute CHAMPS and they both did amazing in the car. We did some planning ahead and tried to make the long car trip as painless on ourselves as possible. Which means that I took the kids to the Children's Museum right before our car trip so that they could run and skip until their hearts were content.
My thought was that if I made them skip their naps and get out all of their energy that they would sleep for the majority of the trip.

Chance has a ball at the Children's museum. He can't get enough of that place. I am definitely buying us a family membership soon.
I still can't believe how great both of the kids did in the car. I'm so glad that we decided to make the trip.
We spent Friday at the Lehman's. Mike got to meet Savannah for the first time and we all go to relax and catch up with each other.
My sister came over from Kansas City for the evening and I got to spend time with my nieces, Addison and Avery.
On Saturday morning, I headed to Olathe to attend Lindsey Springer's baby shower. She is due on Labor Day and is having a boy. I'm so excited to be able to swap stories about motherhood with my best friend.
It was great to spend the day celebrating Lindsey and talking with my friends from college.
I spent the rest of the afternoon on Saturday visiting with my sister and nieces before heading back to Lansing. Addison was adorable with Savannah. She even changed her outfit so that she could match Savannah in the pictures.
I love watching Max and Brad play with the boys.
Sometimes it's hard to tell who is having more fun.
Max said he loved that he got to be with his dad, Chance, Adrian, and Brad on Father's Day.
On Sunday night, I gave Max the perfect gift for Farher's Day...a night in with his children ;)
I met my sister at the power and light district for happy hour, sushi, and the Mary J Blige concert. It was so fun to spend the night out with my sis!
All in all it was the perfect weekend! We didn't feel rushed and we got to spend quality time with all of our family and be a part of some amazing firsts for our close friends.
Cross your fingers that all of our road trips with the little ones are as successful as this one.
