This past weekend, Mike and Carol came out from Lansing to spend some time with us in the mountains. We coordinated the weekend so that Mike and Carol could see Max race in an Xterra triathlon and spend quality time with Chance. We rented a condo on Nottingham Lake in Avon which turned out to be the perfect spot.
This was the view from the back patio of the condo.
All we had to do to cheer Max on in his Xterra was wake up and walk over to the lake.
The first part of Max's Xterra was a 1/2 mile lake swim. Can you pick out which swimmer Max is? We couldn't either, so we cheered on everyone in a red cap and then headed over to the transition area so that we could try and catch him on his way to the bike.

We were able to cheer loud enough at the transition area to make both Max and Nick crack a smile. We sent them off with well wishes before they started the second leg of their race, a 9 mile mountain bike ride up the mountain.
Playgrounds and swings have become a weekend staple in our lives. We spent some time playing on the playground and swinging with Chance before we headed up to Beaver Creek Village for the last transition of Max's race.
We walked around and enjoyed shopping and relaxing in the village while we waited for Max and Nick to finish the third leg of their race, a 5K trail run.
After the race we had nothing on the agenda. We went back to the condo and just realaxed and enjoyed each other's company. I even took a 3 hour nap! It was awesome!
After our naps we were all pretty comfortable and didn't want to leave the condo. We invited the Seglie's over for dinner. We just ordered pizza from Pazzo's and stayed in.
I tried to get a photo of Max, Chance, Mike and Carol all together. Chance was not a happy camper and wanted nothing less than to sit for a photo shoot. I couldn't bring myself to edit any of the photos because it just turned out too funny.
The following day was just as relaxing. We visited the farmer's market and took in the scenary at Vail Village.
we all napped at the condo again and then spent time together drinking wine and making a seafood pasta dinner. Thanks to Mike and Carol for taking the time to come and visit us! We had an amazing weekend.
