I CAN NOT believe that we bought a house in Denver without realizing that it didn't have central air! Don't worry about it, says Max, the temperatures in Denver are totally different than in Oklahoma and in Kansas. It always cools down at night so you don't need air conditioning. Well, that's what people that are CRAZY about Denver will tell you. I love Denver, don't get me wrong, but I'm telling you...this place needs some central air from time to time. It does not always cool off in the evenings. Not even close to always. Oh, well! I love Max and he loves Denver...so here we are...stuck in the 100 degree somethings with no central air.
But enough about that sad story! Who has time to cry about the heat in Denver when you have friends who invite you to weekend mountain escapes?
Katie and Kevin York's parents own a home in Breckenridge right off of Quandry Peak and they were nice enough to invite us to escape the heat for the weekend and spend some quality friend time in Breck!
I had to run 9 miles on Saturday morning for my Chicago marathon training so Max, Chance, and I spent the night in Denver on Friday night and then headed up on Saturday after my run. There was a sail boat J24 race at Lake Dillon that Aaron Cook really wanted to see. We ended up meeting the crew there for some beautiful scenary and some cocktails at the TikiBar.
Who knew sail boat race watching could be so fun?

Chance is still not sure about going down slides without tunnels...with tunnels...no problem. I don't know why, but this seems very funny to me.
After Lake Dillon, we stopped at the grocery store and then headed to the Hedberg home. Because they were letting us stay in their home, I promised everyone that I would make them my special, alfredo chicken parmesean.
Katie kept Chance entertained for me while I prepped dinner.
(I thank God evey day for giving me supportive positive friends that love my child like their own!!)
Chance had a blast playing with everyone!
The boys entertained themselves with a little pre-dinner beer pong. From the looks of this picture, I would guess that Ben and Max beat Kevin and Cook.
We all feasted on garlic bread, salad, and alfredo chicken. I just love that we all sit down to family style dinners whenever we are together!
(Do you see that Chance has my camera in this picture and he is holding it up like a trophy...that is my favorite!)
We had so much fun giggling over dinner and talking about the day. After all the dishes were done and the baby laid to rest...it was time for some guys v. gals beer pong.
Can you just see the determination in those faces?
Honestly, we all had so much fun I don't think we even know who won. It was just a never ending game of jokes and laugther.
Needless to say...we had so much fun! We lounged around on Sunday morning making breakfast and watching Toy Story 3 with Chance. Once everyone was up and "at em" again we all decided to go for a hike and summit the peak in the back yard of the house.
Looking at these pictures...I'm really thinking that I should start a baby book for Chance entitled "cool places I've been while sleeping" :)
