Dew Tour

This past weekend was the Dew Tour in Breckenridge.  The Dew Tour is kind of like the Winter X games and we wanted to check it out because all of the professional skiers and snowboarders that Max watches in his ski movies were going to be on the mountain today.
This was our first real trip to the mountain all day with Chance.  I was a little nervous about how it would go but agreed to try it out.  I'm so glad we did because it was a perfect day to be on the mountain! Chance was a rockstar and was so well behaved and chill.
The picture below is of Katie, Max, and Chance trying to get all of our gear organized in the parking lot to head to the mountain for the day.

All of our friends are absolutely amazing with Chance and for us! We are so lucky! Every single one of them has accepted Chance as one of the gang and they do everything to help us so that we can continue to live a "modified" mountain life :)

Cook entertaining Chance for me so that I can put my ski boots on.

And we're off...wait this is where my OCD kicks in and I have to do a quick crazy checklist in my head.  Baby secured in pack with dad...check, pack loaded with bottles, food, diapers, wipes, a change of clothes...check,  skis...check, poles....check...boots...check, wallet...check, phone...check, gloves...check, jacket...check
Okay...now we're ready.
AND
The next set of pictures are what Max and I will always lovingly refer to as "gondola face"
as soon as we stepped on the gondola our normal smiling fun loving baby looked like this.
Poor thing was so freaked out and wanted to cry but kept looking at how calm we were and held it in somehow.

I swear Chance did not even blink or crack a smile the entire time we were on the gondola.  I don't think he was a fan of the mode of transportation that we chose to get us to Peak 7.

But once we were there, Chance definitely approved of our chosen location for the day.  Who could ask for more than wonderfully colored chairs lined up on the snow at the lift with the sun shining and not a cloud in the sky.

Chance wasted no time and decided that he needed some lil cheddars.  He eats these little cheesy poofs like crazy.  This pic is of him holding out his hand and trying to "share" with me.

I loved every minute of playing in the sun and snow with him.  Katie was so nice and stayed with me while Kevin, Max, and Cook took laps skiing while we played with Chance.

The weather was absolutely perfect!

After a few hours, the boys were done skiing and came to relieve Katie and I from our Chance duty.  Katie and I decided to ski for about an hour and then meet the boys over at Peak 8 to watch the Dew Tour.  We wanted to see the men's half pipe snow boarding finals because Shaun White was boarding.
I'm so glad that we were able to see this in person.  TV does not do this event justice! These guys are sooo good! The half pipe looks horrifying in person.

The top of the half pipe.

My favorite little spectator.

Shaun White ended up winning the event and blowing the competition out of the water.  He is an amazing athlete and so fun to watch in person.  I can see why he is the gold medal champion in this event from everything from the Dew Tour to the X Games to the Olympics.  Even if the other competitors were doing the same moves as him, he made it look better because he was at least 10 feet higher in the air than any of the other competitors.  Which led Max and I to this discussion...Max has heard rumors from some of the guys on the mountain that Shaun White is kind of cocky and doesn't have a lot of friends in the boarding/skiing world. My argument was that if you really do win every single event, every time, then maybe if you say you are the world's best snowboarder that could be argued to be true.  I told Max that the rumor on the mountain should be changed to Shaun White is not humble instead of Shaun White is cocky...but I digress....
back to the pictures.
Aren't these the two cutest men you've ever seen on a mountain?

After the Dew Tour the line for the gondola back to our cars was a nightmare so we decided to hit up the ski hill grill for some beer and french fries.  The perfect end to the day on the mountain.
After finally getting back to our cars and off of the mountain, we drove to Avon to our little room that we split with the Grier's.  We have completely new roommates from last year and the difference in the cleanliness of the condo is night and day!
We were delighted to find this little decorated fireplace upon our arrival.

Which prompted us to want to take this winter family Avon photo.  I know we're crazy!

We ended up hitting the hay early because we were all happy and exhausted!
The following morning, Chance was up and at em at 6am right on cue.  I need to somehow explain to this little angel boy that it is really okay if he wants to sleep in until 8 or 9 on any given weekend.
Max and I took Chance's early wake up time as an opportunity to hit up the Wal-Mart for some last minute Christmas shopping.  I know what you're thinking..really Wal-Mart?  But trust me....as Addison would say, "there's a lot of presents in there"

After returning from Wal-Mart we did the guy/girl split again (based purely on skiing ability) and the guys hit up Beaver Creek while Lauren and I went to Bob's with Chance for breakfast.  I had the Avon omelet which hit the spot.
After a few hours the guys were done skiing and called to ask us to pick them up.  This meant that Lauren and I got our turn on the mountain because the boys agreed to watch Chance for the afternoon while the Broncos game was playing.

I was too lazy to take pictures so I stole these pictures from Lauren (with permission of course).
Lauren and I on our first lift of the day.

Sun shining and beautiful again! Yay!

In honor of the Broncos game we decided we needed to take a knee for a little Tebow action.  Just for good luck....too bad it didn't work!
We got to meet up with Megan and Ben and do some skiing on our all time favorite Rose Bowl.  They replaced the old two person slow chair since last year and added this new speedy lift.  I think I'm a fan of the new lift.
We ended the weekend at Nick Seglie's house to watch the Broncos lose  to the Patriots.  Oh well.  What a fantastic weekend get away.
Now back to that crazy check list in my head.  I have much to do before we are ready to leave for Christmas at Bella Vista! I have no idea how I am going to get it all done, but somehow these things always have a way of working themselves out.
