Easter in Lansing - Part 2

Weekends at home are meant to spend time doing the simple things...

like blowing bubbles for your son and your nephew

like listening to your nephew tell sword bubble stories

and cheering on your home state...not school :( in the NCAA tournament!

We could not have had a more relaxing night in with the Lehman family in Lansing! We loved every minute from blowing bubbles, to eating Carol's perfectly cooked tenderloin, to cheering on the Jayhawks!

The following morning, Carol and I headed out to Topeka to meet Ashley at her bridal shower.

Ashley had her bridal shower at this beautiful location by the lake in Topeka.  I loved being by the water and I was a little surprised by the warm weather. It was the perfect day!

Ashley and her family/friends did an excellent job of decorating for the shower.  They had lovely white and lavender daisies in very hip arrangements.  I can't wait to see what the wedding looks like!

Ashley was so happy the entire time! Oh to be young and in love :)

She passed the "how well do you know the groom quiz" with flying colors and got 8 out of 11 questions right! She didn't even miss enough for me to get a decent bubble gum photo :(  Carol and I joked on the ride home, that there were some questions on the quiz that each of us did not even know about Max and Mike :)

Carol and I did win the "make the wedding dress out of toilet paper game"! Never mind that Adrian got to pick the winner. Our dress and our model were definitely the best!

I just love this child,

and this one too!

We ended the perfect weekend, with a relaxing night in Lansing with Mike and Carol.  We got to chat over a steak dinner, soak in the joy of watching our parents blow bubbles for our child, and we embraced the unconditional love that only a weekend with your family can give you.

Can't wait to be back at home to celebrate Brad and Ashley's wedding next month!

Easter in Lansing - Part 1

This past weekend we were able to spend some time in Kansas, celebrating our family, Easter, and the ones we love.  Here are some pictures to highlight our time spent at home on Saturday.

Chance at the Easter egg hunt at Lansing High School

He hadn't really caught on to the egg hunt concept yet, but he'll have much more practice by the time this holiday passes us by.

After the egg hunt, Chance and I left Lansing for KC to meet up with my parents and my sister.  My sister was gracious enough to have us all over to her house for the day so that we could spend some quality time together.

We got in some much needed family time

Chance loved chasing Lucy around

and my mom loved chasing Chance around

I begged my sister to do my nails (she is better than going to a professional)! Lucky for me my sister agreed and we had an impromptu nail day for the girls at the kitchen counter.

My little man got tired from all of the egg hunting, dog chasing, and nail excitement.

After a quick nap, we were ready to go again.  We colored Easter eggs...

and had sister talk...

and dreamed of one day having our very own Jeep Wrangler.

We all walked down to the park near my sister's house to hide the eggs for the kids.

This park was absolutely beautiful and completely empty.  I'm not going to lie....I wanted to move to Kansas for a brief period of this day!

I absolutely loved being around my family

So thankful for this time together!

Mom and Dad Visit and the Lakers are in Town

This past week was really special! My mom and dad came out to visit for about a week.  Our friends had been planning a ski trip for the past several months and Max and I wanted to be able to ski with our friends.  I also wanted my parents to have quality time with Chance so it ended up being the perfect opportunity to ask my mom and dad if they wanted to come to Denver and stay in our house while Max and I went on our ski trip.  We were lucky that they wanted to watch Chance and that they agreed to come to Denver so that we could have a few days to reconnect and ski.
My parents ended up getting into Denver just before a huge snow storm.  The city of Denver reported 18 inches of snowfall from 5pm on Thursday night to 5am on Friday morning.  I'm really glad that my parents were able to make it into town before the terrible weather and road conditions.
On Friday morning...I learned that I had a snow day from work which never happens.  We were lucky to spend the day playing in our pajamas, catching up, and relaxing.

The only bad thing was that Max was not able to make it to work with all of the snowfall.  He had a huge project that he needed to work on before leaving for vacation.  Chance did not understand and wanted more badly than anything to get into the office to play with Max and all of the computer components.  I'm sure this was not annoying or distracting for Max at all :)

But mom...why won't you let me in the office.  I know my dad is in there!

My parents brought along their new puppy "Tink".  She kept running off with all of Chance's little toys.  Aren't daschund puppies the sweetest?

Notice anything different?  Sigh...Chance is now walking...no running all over the house instead of crawling.  Time is moving way too fast :(

Playing "High Five" with Grandpa

Try and pick who was having more fun

We wanted to do something nice for my parents for making the trip to Denver so that we could vacation for a few days.  We decided that a trip to our favorite Mexican restaurant downtown and a Nuggets game would be the perfect way to say thank you.

Chance and I at dinner downtown.

Nuggets vs. Lakers at the Pepsi Center

Chance was so well behaved during the game.  He sat happily on our laps and fell asleep in my mother's arms by half time.

Of course my dad had to buy Chance a Rocky pillow pet at the souvenir shop.

My mom overlooking the game.

The Nuggets played a really great game.  It actually came down to the last 11 seconds and the Nuggets had a chance to make the winning shot.

Sadly, the Nuggets ended up on the losing end.  At least we got to see Kobe play.

All in all it was just fun to be in such an exciting atmosphere and enjoy time together.

Better luck next year Nuggets! Keep playing your hearts out and we will be back to cheer you on again and again.

Adrian learns to SKI

On New Year's weekend, Brad, Ashley, and Adrian made the drive out to Colorado to spend the weekend with us in the mountains.  We are always really excited when Brad and Ashley come to visit, but this past time was extremely special because it was the first time that Adrian was going to try to ski.
I so wish that I could have documented the whole thing for everyone! Adrian had a team of personal ski instructors (Brad, Max, and Cook) circling around him the entire time.  The goal was to get Adrian out on the kids magic carpet before taking him up any lifts so that he wouldn't be scared and so that he could learn to balance.
Here he is on top of the magic carpet.

Learning how to position his skis.

And he's off!

Max would point him in the right direction at the top and then Cook and Brad would be waiting at the bottom to catch him because Adrian didn't yet know how to turn or stop!
I'll have to admit...I was biting my nails at the first run, but Adrian did great and the boys were so careful and gentle with him!

Adrian said he was having "SO MUCH FUN"

Ready for his personal push up the hill again.

Giving me the thumbs up to let me know that he was still feeling okay and ready for more.

A push up from Daddy!

Adrian with his dad and uncle Max...
I'm sure they are teaching him all of the proper techniques

Looking good little buddy!

Adrian and his mommy! Ashley was so proud of him.

Brad, Ashley, and Adrian
The cutest little family ever!

Poor Chance had a cold and did not feel well the entire weekend! To be totally honest I took all of these photos in about twenty minutes and then went back to the condo with Chance because he looked so miserable.

I had no idea that he looked so pitiful until I went through these photos :(
I feel so guilty for taking him to the mountain now.

I'm glad that I didn't miss Adrian's first gondola experience though! After a few runs on the magic carpet, Max and Brad decided that Adrian was ready for the kids bunny hill.  So we all hopped on the gondola together for Adrian's favorite part of  the day "riding in the glass box"

Once at the top, Max went over some quick pointers again to teach Adrian how to slow himself down and stop. Very important to know!

Another quick lesson about how to turn.

and away they went!

Proud mom and dad!
Adrian did such a good job and was absolutely fearless in true Lehman style.
I hope they come back and visit us again very soon!
