1st Haircut

Chance has CRAZY hair! Of all of the things to inherit from me, poor guy gets my hair.  My hair has been my arch nemesis for as long as I can remember.   My hair does not like to stay fixed, it can not decide if it is curly or straight, and if it meets humidity... forget about it! I have had close friends claim to not know me in beach towns because my hair gets that crazy.
Nevertheless, Chance has my hair.  He is 12 months old and said close friends were asking, "When are you going to give Chance a hair cut?"
I got off of work a little ahead of schedule one evening and decided to call my friend Danielle who has been doing my hair for years to see if her barbershop does little kids cuts.  This could have been a dumb idea, but I felt comfortable with Danielle and I didn't want to pay $50 at Cherry Creek for Chance to be able to sit in a race car while he got the exact same hair cut that Danielle would do for $15.
One quick phone call later, a squealing and very excited Danielle said to be at the shop in 30 minutes.  She would be honored to give Chance his first cut.

Off to the barbershop we went.

That's right, I took Chance to the downtown Floyd's.  You know you're jealous.  This place is so...not a kid's place.  The minute I walked in, I immediately asked myself "what was I thinking."  I've never seen this place, like this before.

I should have just paid the $50 like a normal parent, but I was too far in already and decided I needed to give Danielle a try.

Chance was content to just sit on my lap and look at all of the hipsters while we waited.  For a moment, I even thought, this is going to work after all.

Chance definitely needs a haircut.  There is no containing this hair any longer.
When we were called back to Danielle's chair, Chance was so content and curiously looking around, but as soon as Danielle took him out of my arms and tried to set him in the booster all H&%# broke lose.
Chance wanted nothing of this barbershop or a haircut.

I decided to hold him in the chair to calm him down.
It did NOT work!
Can you see our reflection in the mirror?  Chance is not a happy camper.

The rest of the pictures are blurry because I had to hold a squirming Chance and take photos with one arm.
Chance is still not sure about Danielle and he definitely does not like it when she comes at him with a comb and a water bottle.

Haircuts are t.r.a.u.m.a.t.i.z.i.n.g

 Very t.r.a.u.m.a.t.i.z.i.n.g
(Is this the same look as gondola face?)

Chance even tried to dig his head into me for protection.  So sweet.

All in all, it was a rough trip to Floyd's.  Danielle was super understanding and completed mission impossible in giving Chance and the crazy hair just the cut he needed.

Maybe next time I will try the race car route.  You live and you learn.
