Christmas Cookies

I made Cook a promise a few weeks ago and told him that if he picked a child off of the Angel Tree to adopt I would help him wrap his presents and bake him Christmas cookies.  Because Cook made good on his promise and bought all of these presents to make some little boy happy on Christmas...Max, Chance, and I decided to get with the Christmas spirit too!

We spent the evening wrapping presents and baking sugar cookies.  I've forgotten how much fun it is to bake and decorate sugar cookies.  The two pictures below are of Chance trying to help in the kitchen.  He gets around pretty well as long as he has something to hold himself up.  He hasn't taken any steps without holding on to any furniture yet, but he stands alone in the middle of the room all of the time. It really won't be long before he walks now.

Max and Cook really got into baking these cookies.  We cut out cookies in shapes of Santas, stars, Christmas trees, candy canes, and a ski of course!
Cook was the best decorator by far.  He was very proud of his Santa.

I like to keep my cookies simple with plain old green frosting and let all the sprinkles do the work.  Now I've got to find someone to give all of these cookies to so that I don't sit around and eat them for days.

Deck the Halls

Who doesn't love decorating for Christmas?  Chance has never even had this experience before and he was jazz hands excited when I pulled the Christmas bins out of the basement.  I think he thought I went down and got out two giant bins of toys just for him to play in.  I just love this little man!

Chance was so funny watching me piece together every branch of our fake Christmas tree.  He just studies EVERYTHING! I think he is 100% Max and that just makes me want to squeeze and love him even more! Please pray that I don't turn him into a total mama's boy!

Chance loved playing in the Christmas tree box but kept looking down with a look of question every time something poked him.  Too funny!

With a lot of fun and little work, we are officially decked out for the holidays.  We still use the Christmas tree that we used as a gift table at our wedding almost 8 years ago!!! I can not believe it has been almost 8 years! I still remember the first time that Max told me to call him because he wanted to hang out...he gave me his phone number and a way to remember it....he said it was our age with 0's in the middle
1070
are the last four digits of his home phone in Lansing and I will never forget it!

I'm so excited for Chance to experience his first Christmas!

I can't wait to play Santa! Happy Holidays!

Ski Season is HERE

The 2011/2012 ski season is here.  This past weekend was the first weekend that we spent at our room in  the mountains.  I'm smart enough to know that once the mountain is covered in snow... the ski season for Max has begun.   Max, Chance and I will likely only have a handful of weekends that we are at home during the ski season.  Sigh...oh well...the things we do for love :)

Who can say no to these two beautiful boys that are so content basking in the sun at the base of a mountain?

Saturday we spent the day with Nick taking turns and making laps on Beaver Creek. We had perfect weather.  I think it was 50 degrees and sunny. My kind of skiing weather!

On Sunday, we went to Vail.  Most of the mountain is not open yet, but it felt good to get our legs warmed up.

Chance was a trooper and we got a little Christmas shopping done in Vail Village.

Now we're back at home and I'm breaking in my new ski boots.  Why does new equipment have to hurt so bad? Max says new boots just hurt and that I need to suck it up.  Maybe that's true, but I need to blog about how painful ski boots that are not yet molded to your feet yet are!  Owwwwww!
